KEITH HOMERSHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS (Established 2025)

Keith Homersham was a highly respected public health professional known for his intelligence, integrity, and deep commitment to mentorship. Over his two-decade career, Keith dedicated himself to advocating for public health, fostering leadership in the field, and mentoring professionals who shared his passion for making a difference. His enthusiasm for professional development and education continues to inspire environmental health specialists across Colorado.

Scholarship Purpose

This scholarship assists CEHA members with financial assistance to attend the Annual Education Conference (AEC) and other professional development opportunities such as one-day trainings, and seminars held throughout the year. This scholarship supports environmental health professionals in their pursuit of continuing education, leadership development, and networking opportunities.

Eligibility

Open to CEHA members who are currently working in environmental health and seeking financial assistance to attend the Annual Education Conference (AEC) and other professional development opportunities such as one-day trainings, and seminars held throughout the year.
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and the values of leadership, mentorship, and public health advocacy.

Award Details

Keith's  family provide funding each year and in addition CEHA may provide up to $1,000 in additional scholarship funds, based on availability. Apply by using our Google form here. Applications are reviewed on a once-a-month basis, so please plan your submission accordingly.

TOM DOUVILLE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are reviewed each quarter while funds are available. You should be notified within two months of your submission.

The Colorado Environmental Health Association has designed the scholarship to honor the late Tom Douville. Mr. Douville was the Past President of CEHA in 1987-1988; Environmental Health Director of Mesa County from 1981 to 1985; and Environmental Health Director in Boulder County from 1985 until his death in November of 1996. CEHA has established this scholarship for students from Colorado universities who serve as interns in local health departments. CEHA is looking for students who show strong leadership skills and interest in environmental health.

The yearly scholarship award may be up to $1,000, which may be divided depending on the number of awardees. Minimum award is $250. Award will be made directly to the selected intern(s); recipient(s) will be acknowledged in CEHA’s newsletter and at the Annual Education Conference in September. CEHA-RIHEL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship supports CEHA members accepted to the Regional Institute for Health and Environmental Leadership (RIHEL) Advanced Leadership Training Program (ALTP).

Note as of February 2026: This program is currently on pause. Please visit the RIHEL website for more information or to sign up for alerts.



ANNUAL EDUCATION CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP

AEC Scholarship applications must be received by 10 days prior to the early-bird registration deadline of the training for which you are applying.

The Colorado Environmental Health Association is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for members to attend its Annual Education Conference, one-day training, and seminars held throughout the year. There is a high demand for these scholarships, so if you plan to attend a training, please apply for scholarships as early as possible.  CEHA may have available scholarship money up to $1,000 available.  Please put amount requested on application form.

CSU SCHOLARSHIP

The CEHA Scholarship Endowment was created in 1986 by a $5,000 gift to the Colorado State University Foundation. A scholarship is awarded annually as funds permit to a CSU student working to gain further expertise in the Environmental Health Profession. A Scholarship and awards committee selects the successful candidate from the pool of applicants. Selection is based on student’s good standing in the Environmental Health program; participation in student, state, or national Environmental Health organizations; and financial need. Applicants must be an undergraduate Junior or Senior, or a graduate student.
