RIHEL Pre-Conference will be held Tuesday, 9/17/19 1pm-4pm ($45):
Subject: WORK ENGAGEMENT
Have you ever had an experience where you became so immersed in an activity that you completely lost track of time. Or perhaps you happily put in a little extra effort just to see a project through? The same thing happens when a person is truly engaged with their work. Not only are they likely to put in more time and effort, but they are also unlikely to leave the organization because they care about its success.
In this workshop we will explore the three essential elements of work engagement and use two tools to help identify an engagement goal. The tools can be used either for the individual - to become more engaged - or by the manager - to help protégés identify ways to become more engaged.
Participants will also be introduced to the “stay” interview - a tool they can use to help keep the employees they value. We will explore the five types of key “stay” interview questions and share specific examples that can be used with protégés. If a participant is not a supervisor, they can still use the concepts by inverting the interview into a discussion with their supervisor about assuring that their job is one in which they would like to “stay”.
