8 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher for Environmental Health Specialists

This OSHA HAZWOPER 8 hour refresher course has been tailored for individuals who work as Environmental Health Specialists (EHS), or a similar position, and conduct inspections at varying types of facilities as part of their job for a government agency. The course will meet all requirements and cover all required topics set by OSHA in their HAZWOPER standard 29 CFR 1910.120. These topics include but are not limited to; chemical hazards, hazard exposure limits, fire safety, hazard communication, air monitoring, site safety and personal protective equipment. However, the focus of this course will differ from other HAZWOPER refreshers by specifically addressing EHS safety and prevention of injuries, illness or chronic disease while performing daily job tasks unique to an EHS. These topics will be presented in a way that is relevant to activities an EHS may be expected to complete during audits of restaurants, potable water systems, septic inspections, breweries, HVAC systems, oil and gas sites, manufacturing sites and industrial facilities. The class will review immediate and chronic health hazards possible at these facilities during routine inspections, complaints and emergencies. The class will also discuss how an EHS could be exposed to these hazards along with the best strategies to prevent harm to the individual. Personal protective equipment, level B and C hazmat suits, air monitor, air purifying respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) will be provided at the class for hands on review as needed by attendees. The focus of the class discussion will be primarily on equipment an EHS would be likely to use in the field.  All class attendees will sign a roster of attendance and be provided with an electronic certificate of completion and wallet card by e-mail.
